A MESSAGE OF HOPE
Finding Peace Amid Chaos and Trials
FROM THE DESK OF JUDITH SHERMAN
I wrote the book as a compilation of "Life's Treasures" that I've collected and stored in volumes over the years in the form of journals. I hope that by writing about my experiences, people would benefit from the lessons life has generously taught me.
I developed common-sense techniques that I used personally to enhance my own understanding of peace and help me deal with the chaos during that time. Of course, when I learned to respond better to challenges, I knew I wanted to tell others what I learned because my life has been blessed so profoundly by it. Also, using that information has made me a happier person.
However, one of the most important things I learned is that, until we figure things out and get it right, the universe will continue to serve up the lessons we need to learn. Until we finally pay attention and make the appropriate revisions along the way that change status quo, our lives will be less than fulfilling for us.
The point is, we must acknowledge what we need to learn and change or the universe will continue to give us opportunities until we do, or until time runs out, whichever comes first…and that is a promise!
Protecting peace in times fraught with anguish and difficulty is something I learned first-hand. I developed a much better understanding of the fact that life's harsh lessons may seem unbearable at times and can deeply stir up the soul. It can even plunge our lives into despair and chaos. Yet I also learned that, although it may not seem like it at the time, these lessons are most useful when they are cultivated into a better understanding of life.
My heart is pained because of the hardships people are suffering. Now that I am better at protecting the peace around me, I want nothing more than to see them experiencing this same type of peace that I feel. I would love to hear from you about how your life experiences impacts your peace of mind. Indeed, it makes my heart swell with great joy too when I hear that someone has been helped because of something I have said, and that they are receiving the blessings that come from a changed life.
DISCLAIMER
Keep in mind that I am not a therapist. My education comes from experience in the School of Hard Knocks, known as life. Therefore, advice that I give should be considered as helpful hints only.
Any feelings of anxiety, depression, despair, panic, inappropriate thoughts and behaviors, or problems with addiction, should be discussed immediately with a member of the clergy or a healthcare practitioner.
My experience also comes from counseling with my family, friends, associates, and readers. Also, from 1989 to 1990, I worked as a staff assistant at mental health in California so I learned a lot about mental health issues. Some of my family members have also had mental health issues so I worked with therapists for their issues as well. Many of the situations I discuss in the book are similar to those I experienced with my family members.
Learning from experience is the best teacher, right? However, having problems with close family members and friends, and helping them get through it, is another great teacher. Nevertheless, being taught by the Spirit through enlightenment is the best teacher of all. That is where some of my inspiration has come, and from which has taught me lessons I needed to know for my own situations.
